BIOGRAPHY
Born in Southern Illinois, Kim has lived in Israel, Utah, New York City, Chicago, Boulder, Co., Los Angeles and Newport Beach. She began her professional life as a modern dancer, followed by several years of modeling in Chicago and New York. She studied massage therapy in Colorado, where she developed and maintained a private practice for 10 years. Kim was introduced to yoga in Boulder and there she practiced the highly athletic Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, also for a decade. In Los Angeles, Kim trained to be a yoga teacher and has been teaching since 1999. In 2006 she taught for 3 months in Hong Kong and Taiwan, launching the YogaWorks “export program” for international teacher trainings. In 2007, Kim moved to Newport Beach in order to bring the YogaWorks Method to 5 YogaWorks satellite studios in Orange County. There she taught public classes, led Teacher Trainings and held an administrative position in which she evaluated teacher skill and performance and served as a liaison between teachers and administrators. In 2009, Kim began investigating how yoga could be used as a tool for healing. This led her to the study of Yoga Nidra/iRest and to a variety of other trainings that focused on the healing and transformative aspects of yoga. Her apprenticeship with Robin Carnes at Walter Reed Army Medical Center left her deeply moved and inspired. As a result, she left Orange County and her administrative position with YogaWorks at the end of 2010 in order to focus on using yoga as way to help people heal from the damaging effects of trauma. She currently has a private practice that includes teaching Yoga, personal training and massage therapy.
